Thanksgiving Trip to Texas

We began our trip with a stop in Denver.  We toured the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

We were able to enjoy some time with my family in Denver with dinner at Beau Jo's Pizza and some visiting at my uncle & aunt's.  We then ventured on to my grandmothers in Clovis, NM.  As always, we got some card games in.
We helped my Granny do some chores around her house.  One of the chores was raking leaves.  The kids were so excited to actually have a pile of leaves to jump in!
Once in Amarillo, TX, we visited the Discovery Center with my mom and niece, Emily.

This is my grandmother who is 91 years old.  Isn't she beautiful?  Well, I think so, but I am a bit partial!
This is my niece, Emily.  The girls were quite excited to play with her.
We had Thanksgiving Dinner at the Big Texan.  Boy, was that an experience!

Thanksgiving afternoon, we took some time to see a few sights around Amarillo.  These are the stone legs.
 And Cadillac Ranch
On our way home, we made a pit stop at the American Girl store.  How exciting to walk away with 2 brand new American Girl dolls!
Almost 2,500 miles, 8 days, traveling through 5 states, we are back home again!

Happy Halloween

Halloween festivies at our house...pumpkin carving and trick or treating.  We carved pumpkins Saturday afternoon.  The girls both did  most of the carving all on their own.  Tonight we did some trick or treating around the neighborhood and then went to HighGate Senior Center.  It was a fun night!

(I still can't figure this out....can't get this where I
want it!) Daddy helping pick the apples that were
out of reach.
Hannah in the Gondola ride over Lower Spokane Falls

Recently we had a few days off of school.  So, we decided to take a little trip.  We went to Spokane, Washington.  There were several attractions we wanted to see.  The first attraction was the Spokane Waterfalls.  You can take a gondola out over the falls.  The falls is located within Riverside Park.  There were several other attractions there like the Big Red Wagon.

The next attraction that we went to see was Green Bluff Growers.  This is an area where about 30 different farms let you come to pick their produce.  We picked apples from the tree.  We also visited several other farms and got squash and pumpkins. (Insert apple picking pictures here!)
We found some REALLY big banana squash at one of the farms
The Fall colors were beautiful!
We also toured the town looking for letterboxes.  We found the 2 we were in search of.

We visited the Spokandy Chocolate Factory

Summer 2011

**I am having a hard time editing this post. Maybe it has been too long. So, I will give a synopsis of our summer and let the pictures do the talking!
This summer we decided to embark on a new hobby....letterboxing. Little treasure boxes are placed somewhere in nature and you get to go and find them. Clues are given on the internet (letterboxing.org) and away you go. They are all over the world. Here we found a letterbox near Mt. Rushmore.
We began our summer in May by taking a trip to Devil's Tour and Mt. Rushmore. Then beginning the first weekend school got out, we were basically at Bible Camp every other week. Somehow, I ended up cooking for 5 weeks. I don't think I'll do that again! The kids went with me each time, however Ed only stayed the week of Early Family Camp. He is the manager of that camp and also taught 13 small children all week. That is also the week that a huge wind storm blew through camp while we were eating lunch and knocked down 6 trees, one of which scrapped the back our our camper (no damage, just a few small dents). We were home for the 4th of July and enjoyed some fireworks. At the end of July we made a camping trip to Glacier National Park. We enjoyed hiking to several waterfalls and just enjoying the scenary. In August, my parents came for a visit. Dad was able to get some fly fishing in and mom played with the kids. They are put on a birthday party for the girls while they were here. School began August 27th. Hannah is a 4th grader and Halee is a 2nd grader. The girls birthday's have also come around....Hannah is now 9 and Halee is 7. That wraps up our summer! Enjoy the pictures :)
