Summer 2011

**I am having a hard time editing this post. Maybe it has been too long. So, I will give a synopsis of our summer and let the pictures do the talking!
This summer we decided to embark on a new hobby....letterboxing. Little treasure boxes are placed somewhere in nature and you get to go and find them. Clues are given on the internet (letterboxing.org) and away you go. They are all over the world. Here we found a letterbox near Mt. Rushmore.
We began our summer in May by taking a trip to Devil's Tour and Mt. Rushmore. Then beginning the first weekend school got out, we were basically at Bible Camp every other week. Somehow, I ended up cooking for 5 weeks. I don't think I'll do that again! The kids went with me each time, however Ed only stayed the week of Early Family Camp. He is the manager of that camp and also taught 13 small children all week. That is also the week that a huge wind storm blew through camp while we were eating lunch and knocked down 6 trees, one of which scrapped the back our our camper (no damage, just a few small dents). We were home for the 4th of July and enjoyed some fireworks. At the end of July we made a camping trip to Glacier National Park. We enjoyed hiking to several waterfalls and just enjoying the scenary. In August, my parents came for a visit. Dad was able to get some fly fishing in and mom played with the kids. They are put on a birthday party for the girls while they were here. School began August 27th. Hannah is a 4th grader and Halee is a 2nd grader. The girls birthday's have also come around....Hannah is now 9 and Halee is 7. That wraps up our summer! Enjoy the pictures :)

This is music performance week. Today was Hannah's first piano recital. She played a piece called Tranquility Bay by Peter Jancewicz. She did an excellent job! Enjoy.

Music Time

It is spring music program time! At our school, the programs are just each individual class performances. After the performance, Hannah's teacher invited us into the classroom to see the hats that they made. Here is Hannah and her hat.

Here are a few of the songs that Hannah's class sang. She is in the second row on the left side with the green headband.

Now for Halee's class. Halee is in the 2nd row with the brown shirt with colored hearts all over it.

Spring Break

Well, as it turns out, we had a pretty eventful, fun spring break!

It started on Sunday with my mom and grandmother flying in to town. We picked them up at the airport Sunday afternoon. Monday we went to the Bozeman Hot Springs for a swim. Tuesday, the girls wanted manicures.

Wednesday we went to the Museum of the Rockies to check out the frog exhibit. Halee was excited to see the tomato frogs.

Thursday mom took the girls to McDonalds and I took Granny Dot to Santa Fe Reds. We played a long game of Uno. They flew out early Friday morning.

Friday afternoon we decided to head to Billings. We stayed at Ed's parent's house even though they weren't home. Saturday we decided to try out letterboxing. We found our first letterbox in Boothill Cemetary. We had fun going on this treasure hunt and will have to look more into it. I see there are a bunch of them here in Bozeman.

I think the basic gist is that someone hides this letterbox somewhere and then logs the clues onto the website. You follow the clues to find the letterbox. In the letterbox is a journal and a stamp. You are supposed to have your own stamp and journal. You put your stamp in the letterbox journal and the letterbox stamp in your journal.

Then you hide the letterbox for the next person to find.

The main reason we headed to Billings was to go to The Reef indoor water park. It was FUN! 2 big water slides, a wave pool, and water playhouse with smaller slides, and an activity pool. In the activity pool were these lily pads that you climb across.

Now it is Sunday and time to head back to school! (And I can't believe that I have updated this before Spring Break is even over!!!)

Winter 2011

Our lives have been fairly boring since Christmas! Same old, same old.

We were able to hit the slopes a few times.

The girls decided they wanted to sew an outfit. Halee chose to go first.

And here is what she made!

Hopefully we'll get to Hannah's this next week.

We have just finished up our third Christmas this year. So nice to spread it out over a month! We had our first Christmas with my family in Texas on Thanksgiving (I'll post pictures soon, I hope!) We had our second Christmas in Billings last weekend with Ed's family. Then we had our third Christmas now!

I wasn't thinking as I added these pictures, so they are in reverse chronilogical order!
